The Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance Project,

Funded by USAID through IOM/RRFE and implemented by Kelem Ethiopia, aims to aid 2,000 households of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Haruka and Buri-Mudaytu woredas of the Afar region. In light of the recent conflict escalation resulting in extensive displacement and acute humanitarian needs, Kelem Ethiopia, has executed a cash assistance program in collaboration with IOM/RRF Ethiopia. This initiative is designed to meet the immediate survival needs of affected populations, many of whom have experienced substantial livelihood losses and are dealing with severe food insecurity. Despite alarming conditions reported across various IDP sites, the response from both governmental and non-governmental organizations has been inadequate, underscoring the critical necessity for coordinated and sustained support for these vulnerable communities.
