RUN: Reaching the Unreached for New Achievement in Immunization Services

Project Name: Health Sector Capacity Improvement Project for Improved Immunization and Other RMNCH services in selected Zones and Woredas of Afar Region.

Budget Amount: USD 145,000 (ETB Birr 2,970,607.6)

Number of Beneficiaries: Direct Beneficiaries:  service providers PHCU directors from 15 health centers, Expanded program on Immunization (EPI) focal persons from 7 woreda Health Office and three zonal health office will attend various training on immunization. Health Extension Worekrs (HEWs) from 65 kebeles.

Project Summary:

This RUN project is designed to reduce the incidence of key vaccine preventable diseases and the purpose being to increase the demand, access and utilization of immunization service; and provide potent vaccines to children in targeted woredas.

Specifically it is aimed at increasing demand for immunization services, increasing access and utilization of immunization services in targeted zones, providing potent vaccines to target children in targeted zones and increase frequency of interaction at each level so as to strengthen strategic information for evidence based decision making.

The project is being implemented in 65 Kebeles  of seven districts of Afar regional state with a fund from Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH). The project has already been started and shall focus and work on building the capacity of health institution workers from Zonal to Kebele level throughout the project period.

The project expected to benefit large number of Health Extension Workers (HEWs), Primary Health Care Unit (PHCU) directors, expanded program on Immunization (EPI) focal persons, Woreda and Zonal level health Office, and department staff, children and productive aged group women.
