Zelalem Tsega joined Kelem Ethiopia in September 2024 as Education Project Coordinator, where he oversees the implementation of the Education Quality Improvement Project across multiple primary and secondary schools. His responsibilities span planning and implementation, stakeholder engagement, capacity building and training, training material development, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, resource management, and advocacy.
Before joining Kelem Ethiopia, Zelalem accumulated over 13 years of progressive experience managing multi-sectoral projects in both emergency and development contexts. He has served in various roles including Project Manager, Project Coordinator, Education and Safeguarding Officer, and Education Technical Officer with both international and local NGOs—primarily in the education and well-being sectors.
Across his career, Zelalem has demonstrated expertise in delivering and overseeing education programming, coordinating with stakeholders, building capacity, managing budgets and resources, and leading teams—while ensuring full compliance with organizational and donor requirements. He is also a certified master trainer in education and has received Training of Trainers (TOT) certifications in education, monitoring and evaluation, life skills, facilitation skills, child protection, and other core professional competencies.
Educational Background
Zelalem holds a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) from Wollo University, Ethiopia (2019) and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia (2008) with distinction performance. This academic background provides him with a strong grounding in child development theory and educational practice, equipping him to design and implement impactful learning interventions for diverse age groups and contexts.
