Why emergency response?
Emergency response is critical to public safety and community resilience, addressing unforeseen events that threaten lives, property, and the environment. The importance of effective emergency response cannot be overstated, as its timeliness and efficiency can markedly influence outcomes during crises such as natural disasters, industrial accidents, and public health emergencies.
The Role of Kelem Ethiopia In Emergency Response
Human beings have never lived free from disasters, whether man-made or natural. Particularly over the past decade, our country has faced various types of recurring natural and human-made crises and emergencies that necessitate coordinated emergency responses. Acknowledging this reality, Kelem has designed and implemented various emergency response projects, reaching people in crisis-affected areas of the country, with a special focus on the Afar and Amhara regional states. Our emergency response program encompasses initiatives such as emergency food aid, distribution of improved seeds for farmers, emergency WASH response, distribution of WASH Non-Food Items (NFIs), and Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA). Kelem has successfully reached over 60,350 individuals affected by crises, significantly contributing to the preservation of their lives.
