The Electronic Medical Records (EMR) System Project at Dessie Referral Hospital and Kombolcha General Hospital is marking an important step toward strengthening digital healthcare services. The official launch was held in Kombolcha Town with the participation of health officials, hospital leaders, and medical staff.
Implemented in collaboration with the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) and TERRA TECH and government partners, the two-year project aims to transition hospital services from paper-based records to a fully digital EMR system. The initiative will enhance efficiency, improve data accuracy, and increaseaccess to patient information, enabling healthcare professionals to deliver timely and high-quality care.
The project also focuses on capacity building, providing training for hospital staff to ensure effective system use and long-term sustainability. By improving data management and service delivery processes, the EMR system will reduce administrative burdens, support evidence-based decision-making, and enhance patient care.
This initiative represents a strategic investment in public health institutions’ capacity building for sustainable development, supporting improved access to quality healthcare for the community.
