Education

We contribute to the improvement of pastoralist children's life chances in Afar through education by implementing integrated and gender sensitive education. In addition, WASH, village level saving associations (VLSA) and Community Livelihood investment fund programs are also part of the project.

Focusing mainly on primary education (Grades 1-8 and Alternative Basic Education levels 1-3) the program is being implemented with fund from UK Aid (DFID) and in collaboration with Save the Children International.

Reaching the Unreached for New Achievement in Immunization Services (RUN)

Designed to reduce the incidence of key vaccine preventable diseases and the purpose being to increase the demand, access and utilization of immunization service; and provide potent vaccines to children in targeted woredas.

Afar Cluster’s Project for Improving Access to Quality Basic Education for Marginalized Children and Adults

The cluster comprises of our organization Kelem and Afar Pastoral Development Association (APDA) as members. The cluster largely helps to avoid duplication of effort, share experience, resourcse and create synergy to achieve communal objectives.

Transferring Education for Adults and Children in the Hinterlands (TEACH)

Kelem has implemented Alternative Basic Education (ABE), Functional Adult Literacy (FAL), Women Literacy Program (WLP) and facilitators training programs in 42 ABE centers.
